AI visibility in Indian languages
Ask an AI engine the same buying question in English and in Hinglish and you often get different brands. Most AI visibility tools measure one country in one language and report a single number. This is what the other way looks like, and why it matters when your buyers are in India.
Why the language changes the answer
An AI engine does not translate your question and look up one answer. It retrieves sources in the language you asked in, and those sources are different. A question asked in Hindi pulls Hindi-language pages, Hindi reviews and Hindi round-ups; a question asked in English pulls the English web, where global brands are far better represented.
The result is that a brand can be named consistently in English answers and be invisible in Hinglish ones, for the same product, on the same day, from the same city. Neither number is wrong. They are measurements of two different questions.
Why translating an English question does not measure this
The obvious shortcut is to take your English prompts, translate them, and run those. It produces a number, and the number is misleading.
A translated question is not the question a buyer asks. Indian buyers mix scripts and languages inside one sentence, and the phrasing that a Hinglish speaker actually types is not the phrasing a translation engine produces from formal English. "Best CRM for Indian startups" and "Indian startups ke liye best CRM kaun sa hai" retrieve different sources, and only one of them is what someone would type.
Measuring properly means asking each language as its own question, with its own phrasing, and tagging every result with the language it was asked in. Anything else averages two populations into one number that describes neither.
What AnswerTrace does here
AnswerTrace treats language as a property of the question, not a translation of it. Each language is asked separately and every result carries the language it came from, so you can see where you are named in English and absent in Hinglish.
- English on every plan, including the free one.
- Hinglish from Starter, Hindi from Growth.
- On Pro, one of Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi or Malayalam alongside those.
- Enterprise covers the full set.
How this compares with other tools
Language depth is where AnswerTrace is furthest ahead of the tools it competes with. Otterly.AI, the most cited tool in this category, advertises multi-country support across 50+ countries; its pricing page does not mention language measurement at all (checked 26 August 2026). Profound and AthenaHQ both restrict their self-serve plans to a single language, with multi-language reserved for Enterprise.
That is not a criticism of those tools. Country breadth and language depth are different products, and if you sell in thirty countries in English, breadth is worth more. If your buyers ask in Hinglish, breadth measured only in English will not show you what they see.
What this does not do
Language coverage is tiered, so the full regional set needs Enterprise rather than arriving on the cheapest plan. Scoring each language on its own is on the roadmap and is not shipped: today the languages are asked and tagged separately, and the headline score is one number across them.
And the usual limit applies here as everywhere. Measuring which language you are invisible in does not make an engine name you. It tells you where to work.
Frequently asked questions
Do AI engines really give different answers in Hindi and English?
Yes, and often very different ones. The engine retrieves sources in the language it was asked in, and the Hindi and English webs contain different brands, different reviews and different round-ups. A brand well represented in English coverage can be absent from Hindi answers for the same product.
Can I just translate my English prompts to measure this?
You can, but the result will mislead you. A translated prompt is not the sentence a buyer types, and it retrieves different sources than natural phrasing does. Hinglish in particular mixes languages inside one sentence in a way translation does not reproduce.
Which Indian languages does AnswerTrace measure?
English on every plan, Hinglish from Starter, Hindi from Growth, and on Pro one of Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi or Malayalam alongside those. Enterprise covers the full set.
Do other AI visibility tools measure Indian languages?
Not on their published self-serve plans. Otterly.AI advertises 50+ countries and its pricing page does not mention language measurement; Profound and AthenaHQ both limit self-serve plans to one language, with multi-language on Enterprise. Checked 26 August 2026.
